At Torrington we love our plants, we love the colours, textures, smells and all the little peculiarities and requirements of all the stock that we nurture.
We also love the dynamics of working with plants. Every year trends are changing and every year each of us gets attracted to new plants and even groups of plants that weren’t on the radar a year ago – as gardeners we are forever learning and discovering new fascinations.
So come and explore our nursery, loose yourself in our world for a little while and perhaps be fascinated by our enthusiasm, stock and displays.
Let us introduce you to a few of our favorites………
Our Edible Plant collection.
Everything from tiny vegetable seedlings to large Nut trees. This is an area of the nursery that many people get hooked on. There is nothing like the convenience or pleasure of home grown produce. Even the smallest residence has room for a herb pot!

Special interests
Many of our customers have groups of plants that they have to surround themselves with and we have been taken by a few obsessions ourselves.
Succulents and architectural plants are all the rage with the current water restrictions. These are plants that look good all year and have very interesting foliage variations there are so many – you just want to collect them all!
Maybe Bonsai is more your thing or Aquatic plants… If you are obsessed we may be able to help!
Advanced Plants
Our advanced stock is mostly trees and screen shrubs in 25 and 45litre bags. We grow a limited range of species that is particularly reliable in the local area. These are plants that will give you instant impact and add a touch of maturity to a new landscape project. Our news page regularly lists species that are looking good at the time so check it out or come and have a look at the stock on the ground. Again we are happy to provide information on the best species for your soil, climate and other limiting factors as choosing the right tree is an important decision.

Waterwise Plants
With Toowoomba having experienced drought and severe water restrictions for many years now, “Waterwise” is a permanent part of our vocabulary. It is probably the most important criteria in plant selection after soil and frost considerations.
With careful plant selection, good soil conditioning, mulching and (for most plants) some form of establishment watering, it is possible to have a lush and attractive garden under the current restrictions.
Many of the plants we grow are suitable for low water use gardens and some are suitable with only natural rainfall. There is nothing more valuable than local knowledge so our staff are happy to help with any waterwise inquiry.
